Using API for Engineering Projects

Developer and programmers have always depended on the works of others to create useful applications. For instance, the library function used in programming languages such as "C" relieve programmers from routine and help them focus on actual work.
On the world wide web- such readily available resources can be accessed programmatically via Application Programming Interface or API. API's enable developers to harness resources created by others and build better and more useful applications. In this seminar, the following will be covered

  1. An Introduction to API
  2. How API's help programmers
  3. Different APIs available
  4. Demonstrating use of  API's through simple examples

Towards Cloud Curriculum

Cloud computing is ushering a new world order. Major sectors of society- business, government and others are adopting it in greater degree. Engineering education can not remain indifferent to this widely happening trend. Education must take proactive steps to build a comprehensive cloud curriculum that enables institutes to harness cloud power and also prepare next generation of engineers, business leader, professionals and user. This seminar covers the following.

  1. Do we need cloud curriculum?
  2. What are the gaps in Today's education
  3. What to include and how to include in cloud curriculum
  4. Our experience in constructing and delivering cloud computing learning units-
    1. Cloud Computing Projects
    2. Cloud Computing Course
    3. Cloud Tools for Productivity
  5. Cloud Curriculum- other approaches
    1. Teaching Cloud Computing
    2. Proposing a cloud curriculum
    3. Teaching Cloud - Lessons Learning
  6. The Road Ahead

A Seminar on Map Reduce

The world wide web is experiencing an exponential growth. Traditional approaches for managing data - both volume and speed are not working well. The leading enterprises of the web are turning out very innovative and have come out with a series of approaches and solutions. MapReduce is one such solution proposed by Google to process massive online data and obtain speedy results. This seminar present the details of MapReduce.

  1. Why we need MapReduce
  2. Nature and power of MapReduce
  3. Working of MapReduce
  4. Uses of MapReduce
  5. Example of implementation

About this blog

This blog is created to common meeting for seminar related activities. This will be used to share all seminar related information and announcements. This seminar process will use blog as the basis for recording and presenting seminar by each student. Each student will create a blog for this purpose and publish all his/her work here.

Each student will submit an abstract of his seminar topic on her and his blog. This includes references and other related information. Each class mate is required to visit the blog, read the abstract and make technical comments regarding - acceptance of the topic for seminar and may ask clarifying questions and also indicating whether the topic selected is at PG level.
